By The Lad: A tiger army base in northern Afghanistan has been overrun by the Taliban.
A group of Taliban fighters, who have been operating in the area for months, launched a suicide attack on a military camp on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.
The attack was the latest in a series of attacks on the base, which was established in 2007 by the US to train Afghan security forces.
The Taliban has been targeting Afghan security bases and other targets for more than a decade.
They also target American troops in the region.
The Taliban has not publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, but Afghan and U.S. officials say they suspect the attackers are linked to the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani network, which is fighting U.N. troops in Afghanistan.
